The Five Peaks of Highest Education

A friend of mine from the co-op decided to enroll her kids in Classical Conversations. She brings her kids to Adventure Days on Wednesdays when she can, and on Thursdays she takes her kids to Classical Conversations. Bonnie is doing her utmost to raise her family in God’s ways. She is a valued friend whose family I respect.
You may know that Classical Conversations has a trivium–grammar, logic, rhetoric–teaching students how to learn and think. What does Highest Education have that makes it unique? It has a quintet, five peaks–like five fingers in a hand–forming the apex of Christ-like character. 1) Family 2) Scripture 3) Nature 4) Emotional Intelligence, and 5) Service.
Here is a scriptural glance at these five peaks based on life before sin. When God (Elohim–the plural form of God, or Family) spoke (His Word, Scripture) the heavens and the earth (nature) came into existence. Adam and Eve, along with the rest of the creation, existed to reflect God’s character (complete emotional intelligence), which included service to others. This quintet is our “why,” our purpose, our highest education.
Are these peaks worth climbing for you and your family? What actions are you daily engaging to implement your greatest values? What other peaks are important for you to consider?
