Girl Teaches About the Gospel

This Wednesday was our last indoor rock-climbing day for the 2021-2022 winter! Besides kids doing a lot of climbing and adults having conversations about life, faith, parenting, and education, we were happily surprised with an impromptu lesson from one of our young climbers. Now in her third day of climbing, she was more comfortable with the rope and the wall. She just wanted to hang! And swing! And climb of course! As William belayed her, he saw the lesson that Jesus was teaching in that moment through her. When we think about the upward climb of faith–something that Highest Education is about–it is easy to think it should be a clean line upward. Now that you know the Gospel, shouldn’t you have it all figured out? The truth is that God is with you through the ups and downs of life. Here is a funny cartoon to depict what the Christian walk is really like:

Thank you little girl for reminding us that it is ok to enjoy the ride, the swinging, the falling, and the climbing.  As long as we are “looking up to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith,” we will make it to the top.

The Lord makes firm the steps

of the one who delights in him;

though he may stumble, he will not fall,

for the Lord upholds him with his hand.

Psalm 37:23,24
