Hailu and Clair Gabriel gave us a tour of their 1.5 acre property–a permaculture project we enjoyed and learned from. From hazelnut trees to guild orchards, we learned how plans can be grouped to bless each other. We also learned how some invasive species–like ivy–can be hard to root out. One life lesson from pulling ivy has to do with habits. It takes time, patience, and great effort to pull up rooted bad habits that have made their way deep into our characters. But our group pulled, yanked, cut, and wrapped those ivy vines once we had pulled them. Though hard, it was possible! Similarly, through Christ, you too can be victorious over pesky invasive habits that root into your soul. “Work out your own salvation
with fear and trembling” (Philippians 2:12)
