Going Back to a Simple Life is Not a Step Backwards

Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, said “going back to a simple life is not a step backwards.” Is he right? He gave his company away and still isn’t happy that he is still wealthy. Most people work all their lives to make a living. Then they die. All for what?

Jesus said “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” – Matthew 6:26-33

It is so easy to complicate our lives in search for more. Humans tend to create environments and cultures of complication, suffocating the quiet voice of the Holy Spirit. Maybe it’s time to “devolve” back to what God created humans to be. Like Albert Einstein said, “everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.”
