A Little Heaven on Earth

Everywhere we go, there are traces of God’s wonderful creation. Here in Washington State, mountains and rivers speak loudly of God’s delight in making beautiful landscapes. The Kalama River, 30 minutes north of Vancouver, WA, is one of those places.

On Kalama River Rd is a 100 year old cabin with 160 feet of water front that Highest Education/Adventure Days families can now access. It’s an investment that was made to give families another entry point to communion with God through nature.

The old cabin needs a deep rehab and is many days from being usable. The Adventure Days group helped clean up brush, take down small trees, and helped in the process of rehabilitation. The service day was part of our new mode of learning through homesteading. By visiting homes of friends and family in the area who have mini-farms, gardens, and special home projects–the Adventure Days co-op group can experience home economics, sustainable gardening, trade-skills in home repair, and much more. The homesteading day is like a one-day internship for kids and parents to give them examples of how to live.

As far as the 100 year old cabin, hopefully it will be rehabbed soon so families can fully enjoy this little heaven on earth. May families take advantage of opportunities to enjoy God’s creation!\
