How Can Something Be So Deliciously Good...
…and a the Same Time be So Terribly Bad?
Have you ever stopped by the side of the road in the summer to pick fresh black berries. Yum! How about black berry pie? More yum! But did you know the Himalayan Black Berry is a noxious plant, taking over the land and ruining its value? The thorns in these blackberries stocks are gigantic and can scratch you and ruin your clothes. How can there be something that is so good and at the same time be so bad?
Your Highest Education Co-Op as a service project went to Optimist Camp (our base camp) to work on eliminating the blackberries.

Why are there good things that are bad at the same time?

When god Made plants, he made them "good."
Genesis 9:12 says God delighted in His creation–in delicious black berries!

But Sin harmed God's creation, causing pain–Thorns & Thisels
Genesis 3:18 says because of sin, "The land will produce thorns and thistles for you...

Many things now, though meant for good, can be harmful.
What are some you can think about? Relationships. Education. Food. Personality types. Money. Possessions. And the list can go on and on.
Will You "Fight the good fight of Faith?"
ONLY as you surrender your life to Jesus Christ, who wore a crown of thorns for you, will you be able to overcome the brokenness in your life. This is your Highest Education!

Even with all the pain in this world, we can still enjoy the goodness of God in our lives. May we allow His Spirit to change us so we can live in His light!

The prayer of Jabez in 1 Chronicles 4:10 is "'Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.' And God granted his request." May this be your prayer also!

We were thankful to Christina who brought us apples. May we learn to naturally focus on the good more than the bad! May we enjoy the fruits of our labor as leave everything else (including the thorns) at the foot of the cross!
